Michigan Football: A Storied History and Bright Future

 

Michigan football is one of the most storied programs in college football history. The Wolverines have won 11 national championships, and 44 Big Ten Conference titles, and have finished in the top 10 of the AP Poll 39 times.

Michigan began competing in intercollegiate football in 1879 and joined the Big Ten Conference at its inception in 1896. The Wolverines have been members of the Big Ten ever since, with the exception of a brief hiatus from 1907 to 1916.
